Zanahoria (Spanish) = Carrot (English)

Broccoli Bob To Travel with a Friend!

One of the friendly carrot twin sisters is planning to stay in Argentina to enjoy
learning and teaching about healthy choices with Sra. Carrizo and all the
children of Ortiz de Ocampo!

The other carrot sister is joining Broccoli Bob on his return trip to the USA!

We have named this sister carrot "GLORIA!"

In Spanish the word for carrot is Zanahoria.

Thus, Broccoli Bob's new friend is "Gloria the Zanahoria!"

Bob and Gloria have become awesome friends!

In Argentina, they are already teaming up to spread the news of healthy choices!

Above, the Ortiz de Ocampo custodian, Juan, is giving his approval to Bob and Gloria's team work!

Juan paints beautiful murals with the students of Ocampo!
His wonderful artwork reminds
 students to make healthy choices!

Dr. Patschke is excited to bring her new friend, Gloria, back to
Upper Providence Elementary School!!

Now Broccoli Bob has a "forever friend" that loves to remind
children (and grown-ups) to be safe, be nice, and be healthy...
...straight from Argentina to the USA!

Games that Kids Play in Argentina!

UPES Kid Question:
What types of games do the children play in Argentina?
How do they have fun?

Above is an antique game which was played many years ago.
This metal item is similar to a curved hockey puck.
It is tossed toward a target with the hopes of getting very close to the winning spot.

Here a few children are playing a game which is like stationary tag.
They must avoid being tagged but not move their feet.

These two brothers are showing us their collection of toy cars and trucks!
Just like boys in the USA, they enjoy playing with these miniature vehicles.

Many Argentine children love pets!
Dogs can provide hours of fun!

Children in Argentina ride bikes!  These bikes were parked at Ortiz de Ocampo!

Here is a group of children having fun at an evening Chess Club.

Below you see some of the playground equipment which is designated for the
4 and 5 year old children at Sra. Carrizo's school.

On the playground some kids in Argentina like to play games similar to games we know in the USA.

They have games that remind Dr. Patschke of:

Hopscotch
Four Square
Hide and Seek
Tag
Kickball

Some students enjoy walking around the play yard and talking with their friends.
Others play on the equipment which is provided.

The most popular game, both to play and to watch
in all of Argentina is SOCCER!

Also, the kids enjoy basketball.  This is a photo of the professional
Argentine Basketball Team's uniform.

Another game which is played as a professional sport is called, "Pato."  In English, that translates as "duck."    This is because many years ago, instead of a ball, the game required a real duck.  Pato is played on horseback which combines the skills of Polo, Basketball, and Tug of War. Pato is similar to the game of horseball which is played in France and Portugal.

Second Graders Make Dioramas!

Ortiz de Ocampo 2nd Grade
Displays Dioramas!

The children were asked to use their creativity to make miniature three-dimensional scenes,
in which models of figures were seen against a background.

Some of the creations were small others were very big!

All the children enjoyed this hands-on activity!

The students were very proud to display their work for everyone to admire!

A Visit to the Fish Farm!

This is Leonor, she is one of the many awesome teachers at Ortiz de Ocampo!
Leonor and other friends took Dr. Patschke to see a Fish Farm!

Below is a house at a stop along the way!

Before entering the Fish Farm, our group enjoyed a picnic lunch in nature!

Below is Dr. Patschke with Sophie, Leonor, Emi, and Patricia!

Here we are about to learn about farming fish!
At this location the main fish is trout.

Below are trout in tanks.  Eventually, they are large enough to be placed into large ponds!

The man in this photo is explaining how they hatch the fish from eggs.

This area is like a nursery where the litte fish are cared for until they get big enough to
be moved into larger tanks.

The area around the fish farm is beautiful!

Keep in mind, that these photos are taken in Winter.

These mountains are green in the summer!

A Walk Across Town with Ocampo!

The town of Jesus Maria has many wonderful spots!
The students of Ortiz de Ocampo enjoy learning about their community!

Above, the teachers of Ocampo prepare for the day with updates from Principal Carrizo!

Some of the field trips at Ocampo are a simple walk across town!

These are photos of a class exploring a historic building right down town in Jesus Maria!

Students at Ortiz de Ocampo LOVE learning, just like students at UPES!
