With Love, From Ocampo!

When Dr. Patschke returned to UPES, she found a HUGE box
which was mailed from Argentina!

There were many surprises inside the special box!

The friends, parents, students, and staff of Ocampo
shared special items with our school!

Many were hand-made!

Our 4th grade students had sent Ocampo "hands" made from
construction paper with special messages!
The Ocampo students returned messages on these adorable
"feet!"  How cool is this!

They even wrote messages in English!

Thank you Ortiz de Ocampo Kids!

Parents from Ortiz de Ocampo made these
beautiful "Dream Catchers" for the staff of UPES.
Dr. Patschke has a special one at home that is
made with American colors of red, white, and blue!
What talent!!

Here's the beautiful message from the parents which was written
as a thank you for the Administrative Exchange experience!

How lovely!

Dr. Patschke, Broccoli Bob, and Gloria the Zanahoria Return!

Dr. Patschke had many things to
bring back to the USA!

Notice the green plastic wrap on some of her suit cases!

Airport security recommends this special safety
measure on domestic flights in Argentina.

Patricia and Sra. Carrizo took Dr. Patschke to the airport!
It was very hard for everyone to say "good-bye!"

Broccoli Bob and his new friend Gloria were really excited to
get to the USA!  Gloria can't wait to meet all the kids at UPES!

Here they are flying home from Bueno Aires, Argentina to Houston, TX!

Once again, United Airlines employees
LOVE Broccoli Bob as well as Gloria!!

HOME IN THE USA!!

GLORIA and BOB....Welcome to the USA!

One more flight to return to UPES!

Guess who was on Dr. Patschke's flight from Houston to Philadelphia!!!

The entire UNION SOCCER TEAM!!!  (ohhhh!  ahhhhh!)

Santiago's Work in Argentina!

This is Susana Carrizo's son, Santi.
He works at a company in Jesus Maria, Argentina that processes
beans and other foods for exporting!
Santiago went to college in Cordoba after high school.
He is an Agriculturalist.

Santi works long hours and loves his job!

Many people in Argentina work in the mornings, have a "siesta" in the afternoon, and then
return to work for an evening shift!

  Santi works all day long!

The next time you eat baked beans at a picnic or enjoy chick peas on your salad,
realize that they might have come from Argentina!

"Thanks for showing us all where you work Santi! We hope you come to the USA to
visit our farms and other agriculture businesses soon!"

Patschke Makes Presentations!

Dr. Patschke had many opportunities to speak with different
groups of children and adults!

Everyone wanted to know about the United States,
our educational system, and especially about the
children, families, and staff of the Spring-Ford Area School District!

Dr. Patschke especially enjoyed sharing information about
all the kindness, learning, and healthy choices made by
the students at Upper Providence Elementary School!

Many school principals from the Jesus Maria area and beyond enjoyed
a discussion about teaching, learning and living in the USA.

After the presentation, delicious food was shared!
Gloria the Zanahoria (carrot) and Broccoli Bob found healthy choices!!

Dr. Patschke took time to speak with all the students at
General Francisco Ortiz de Ocampo!
Patricia Holvoet translated for all of the assemblies!

Dr. Patschke was able to teach the children of
Ocampo some "Brain Breaks!"

The students enjoyed moving and laughing!
They were a great audience!

The students had some AWESOME questions about
UPES, our students, and our country!

Finally, Dr. Patschke was able to work with the teachers
and staff at Ortiz de Ocampo!
We talked about ways to engage students in learning!
The teachers in Argentina LOVE their jobs and their students!
We also talked about how important it is
for adults to model the enjoyment of "reading!"
....in our homes, schools, and communities!

Maybe Ocampo will host a reading incentive this school year!

One Principal, 18 Students, and A Beautiful Little Country School House

A small and lovely school in the country!

Escuela Manuel Belgrano!

This school only has one person that works here, their Principal!

There are 18 students who attend the school.
They have five dogs that they care for at the school!

These two children are in Kindergarten!

On the black board, there were messages about the USA's 4th of July celebration!

How cute!  Dogs are allowed at school in Argentina!

The children work with their principal, Marta Peralta.
Marta is a friend of Sra. Carrizo!

Marta is the only teacher and only principal!
Children at this school are between Kindergarten and Sixth Grade!

Marta cooks snacks for her students!

There is Marta's car!

Guess what!

The principal lives at the school Monday through Friday!
On the weekends she drives home to the city!

This is a tree very close to the school that is hundreds of years old!

It is so huge, local farmers built splints to hold up the branches!
This way the tree limbs don't break from the weight of itself!

If you look close, you can see a birds' nest in this tree!

At the end of the school day, the children retire the Argentina flag!
This is accomplished with great pride and respect!

As a gift of friendship, Marta and her children presented Dr. Patschke
with a miniature Argentina flag and pole.

We had an awesome visit to this small country school!

The children are so happy!

They had time to run and play at recess!

The surrounding countryside is beautiful and filled with natural gifts!

Farms and forests surround the school!

This church is right down the road!

There are the school dogs again!

What a GREAT visit!!

Be proud Escuela Manuel Belgrano!

There is love and learning under that roof!
