Kid Crafted Sister Quilts!

4^th grade classes at UPES have
crafted piece-together quilts!
 

 

They will be used as gifts for our sister school in Argentina.

 There are 2 sets… one set in English the other in Spanish.  

An English and Spanish version will be displayed at UPE

and the other mixed set will be given to General Francisco Ortiz de Ocampo!

 

The Design: Students worked with partners to collaborate ideas based on 4 topics shared by UPE and Ortiz de Ocampo which include:
1) Schools & Learning
2) Friendship
3) Gardening & the Outdoor Classroom
4) Community & Culture!

 

 

UPE 4^th graders worked with their friends to brainstorm ideas! Each student was given a piece of the puzzle to complete. 

 

Everyone did great job!

Unique Bookmarks will Surprise Students in Argentina!

 Miss Winkler, UPES Art Teacher, worked with many students to decorate colorful bookmarks!  The bookmarks will be shared with our friends at General Francisco Ortiz de Ocampo! 

 

 

Each laminated bookmark features the English words,
 "Global Friends" on one side, and
the Spanish words,
 "Amistad Mundial" on the other side! 

 

 

 You'll also notice the American Flag

 and the Argentinean Flag!

 

 

They are super adorable!

LOGO for Sister Schools!

 Mr. Nice, UPES 4th Grade Teacher, designed a unique logo to symbolize our

special friendship with the learning community of General Francisco Ortiz de Ocampo!

 

 

It is AWESOME!

 

Look at the outline of the Americas! 

 You will notice the colors and symbols of the American Flag & the Argentinean Flag!

 

We took this logo and had it printed on some special items which will

be shared with the teachers and parents of Ocampo!

International Night: UPES learns about other countries and cultures!

 

UPES Staff and Parents Presented An Amazing Event on Friday!

 

UPES INTERNATIONAL NIGHT

 

A shared celebration of countries, cultures, and friendships!

 

The evening was designed and executed

 by Mr. Dan Mountz, 4th grade teacher;

Mrs. Sue Choi, 3rd grade teacher,

a group of super supportive parents,

and many awesome High School Heroes!

 

 

 

 

After International Night, Dr. Patschke pulled out a
few suitcases for her travel to Argentina!  
There are many things to pack!  

UPES  kids are making special bookmarks for the students in Argentina!

Our 4th grade students are creating artistic quilt squares which will be gathered

into a larger piece of cloth artwork for our friends at General Francisco Ortiz de Ocampo!

Mr. Nice has designed a unique logo for key chains and magnets which will be given to the wonderful teachers and staff in Argentina!

Spring Here - Fall There!

 

It's Spring in the USA!  In Argentina it's Autumn!

Dr. Patschke travels to Argentina on June 16th to visit with Sra. Carrizo! 



 

Staff, students and parents are using SKYPE to work with Sra. Carrizo!

 

Mr. Pence, Mrs. Lare, and Dr. Patschke are partnering with our friends in Argentina
on a sister garden project between our schools!
