Games that Kids Play in Argentina!

UPES Kid Question:
What types of games do the children play in Argentina?
How do they have fun?

Above is an antique game which was played many years ago.
This metal item is similar to a curved hockey puck.
It is tossed toward a target with the hopes of getting very close to the winning spot.

Here a few children are playing a game which is like stationary tag.
They must avoid being tagged but not move their feet.

These two brothers are showing us their collection of toy cars and trucks!
Just like boys in the USA, they enjoy playing with these miniature vehicles.

Many Argentine children love pets!
Dogs can provide hours of fun!

Children in Argentina ride bikes!  These bikes were parked at Ortiz de Ocampo!

Here is a group of children having fun at an evening Chess Club.

Below you see some of the playground equipment which is designated for the
4 and 5 year old children at Sra. Carrizo's school.

On the playground some kids in Argentina like to play games similar to games we know in the USA.

They have games that remind Dr. Patschke of:

Hopscotch
Four Square
Hide and Seek
Tag
Kickball

Some students enjoy walking around the play yard and talking with their friends.
Others play on the equipment which is provided.

The most popular game, both to play and to watch
in all of Argentina is SOCCER!

Also, the kids enjoy basketball.  This is a photo of the professional
Argentine Basketball Team's uniform.

Another game which is played as a professional sport is called, "Pato."  In English, that translates as "duck."    This is because many years ago, instead of a ball, the game required a real duck.  Pato is played on horseback which combines the skills of Polo, Basketball, and Tug of War. Pato is similar to the game of horseball which is played in France and Portugal.

What will we learn about next?
You'll find out soon!
